Frequently Asked Questions

What are the opening periods and hours of the Alpe d’Huez ice track?

Ice-driving courses take place from December to March each year, every day from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. As the ice track faces due south, we must close between 12:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., when the sun is at its highest and the ice would deteriorate significantly if we drove on it.

Can an ice driving course be canceled due to weather conditions?

Whatever the weather conditions, everyone must be able to anticipate and control their vehicle’s reactions. That’s why the EVODRIVER driving school remains open whether in periods of extreme cold, heavy snowfall or thaw— which does not detract from the pleasure of learning.

Are your ice-driving courses reserved for experienced drivers or people who have already practiced the activity?

No, our teaching method enables any driver to progress very quickly, whatever their level. In addition, a driving license is not mandatory, since our ice-driving courses take place on a closed private circuit, but it is still preferable to know how to drive and change gears.

I have already done ice driving courses; can I improve with you?

Yes, we offer complete and technical ice-driving courses such as the “7h ice control course,” the “14h advanced ice course,” and the “3h coaching pack” for the most demanding among you. It is also possible to drive on the ice track with your own vehicle in 30-minute slots or reserve it exclusively for a half-day or more.

Do I need special equipment to do an ice-driving course?

We are at an altitude of 1800 m, so make sure you are properly equipped. Also plan comfortable clothing when you are in the vehicles, including a functional pair of driving shoes.

Are training vehicles and insurance included in the ice-driving course?

Yes, we have a fleet of vehicles with all types of transmission suitable for the ice-driving course you will take. Each trainee also benefits from individual accident coverage.

Where to eat? Where to stay?

Would you like to extend your stay in the resort for a meal before hitting the road?
Tell us your culinary preferences at the end of your ice-driving course and we will guide you!
